Sales Performance for February 2007

The survey results for February report strengthening for General Merchandise mailers. Apparel mailers show an increase in sales vs. last year as compared to last month, but a slight decrease vs. plan.

76% of all mailers surveyed reported February sales equal to or better than last year, and 71% reported sales equal to or better than plan for the month. 38% of all mailers had increased circulation in February 2007 vs. February 2006 and 33% kept circulation levels even with last year.

Apparel mailers reported 57% doing equal to or better than last year in February, and 57% meeting or beating plan for the month. The survey also indicated that 14% of the Apparel mailers reporting had increased circulation in February 2007 vs. the prior year, and 29% maintained last year’s circulation levels.

86% of General Merchandise mailers reported doing equal to or better than last year in February, and 79% reported sales meeting or beating plan for the month. 50% of General Merchandise mailers had increased circulation in February 2007 vs. February 2006, while 36% kept circulation even with last year.
