“How to Improve Fulfillment and Operations†Seminar a Big Success!
A couple of weeks ago we hosted 23 of Stone Edge Technologies’ customers at our two-day seminar, How to Improve Fulfillment and Operations. For those of you who don’t know Stone Edge, they sell an order management system for small to moderate sized direct businesses. They have over 1600 customers, second only to Dydacomp. I met Barney Stone, the founder and president, at last year’s Internet Retailer show and we conceived the seminar.
Two of F. Curtis Barry & Company’s vice presidents and fulfillment consultants, Gary Conrad and Bob Betke, presented the best practices in fulfillment and how to improve your operations. They covered all the fulfillment processes, including receiving, inbound freight, put away, slotting, order picking, replenishment, packing, manifesting and shipping, returns, inventory control, bar coding, cube utilization, outbound freight, work standards and metrics… the whole enchilada!
The seminar was very well received. Here are some of the participants’ comments about How to Improve Fulfillment and Operations—and what they thought were the top ideas they took away:
“Check it twice, Ship it once!†—Clint Modrzejewski, Lakeshore Merchandisers
“The first hour on Saturday paid for the conference.†—Jimmy Hilburger, Switch Hits
“I believe it’s important for warehouse managers to attend even if it may be a refresher.†—Jeff Luckey, CableOrganizer.com
“Wonderful Seminar, I was struck with how to handle the growth of my company, trying to figure out how to keep up production with our growth, and your seminar helped me identify our weakness.†—Craig Trinkley, HRM USA
“The ROI on attending will be considerable.†—Andrew Hoefener, BDU.com
â€The vendor compliance policy is a basic that everyone should have from the very start of their company. We need to remember we are our vendor’s customers!†—Amber Anderson, Layla Grayce
“Get down the basics before you grow too big.†—Norman Wnuk, All Things Jeep LLC
“Watch for dead inventory.†—Don Basch, Photodon
“F. Curtis Barry & Company gave me ideas I can act on now and a vision for better operations practices as I grow my company.†—Irene Hamaker, Artisan Sweets
These participants’ companies really exhibit the entrepreneurship that characterizes the e-commerce industry today. We wish them the best and I was glad that we could make a contribution to building their business.
